So what’s so great about 2010? Obviously, it’s been dubbed the year of the Android and maybe even the year of the tablet. But all of this pales in comparison with the WORLD CUP in South Africa this summer!
Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. The fun is going to start in just 34 days. I’m sure that there a lot of people who are just as excited about the World Cup as I am. In the run-up to the biggest sporting event of the year, we’ve tested a World Cup app for you.
The World Cup is really an extraordinary event, wouldn’t you say? With the exceptions of our American and Canadian readers, I think most of you would agree:) Even the most apathetic people become total football nuts for a month. All over the world people are grilling, drinking, celebrating and bringing their respective countries to a stand-still during this magnificent tournament. Entire nations are glued to their TV screens.
Nowadays, information plays a vital role during the World Cup. Nothing is worse than having to cancel your wedding plans because of a Germany – Argentina semi-final match. So you’ve definitely got to make your plans way ahead of time to avoid any scheduling problems.
This is exactly where the “2010 World Cup” can help you!
The greeting screen displays a live countdown to the World Cup kick-off whistle. Here are the basic features:
There’s also a news section dealing with everything in and around the FIFA World Cup, including all the participating teams.
Bottom Line:
I can’t complain about the selection of features. This app has got everything a World Cup app needs. It would be cool if I could insert my own game predictions. Basically, just a nice little app to have around.
The app is really user-friendly and easy to use. The only thing is that the app looks really cheap. Maybe it’s just because it’s free of charge. All in all, it’s not too bad, but could use a better design.
Runs smoothly and quickly. We'll have to wait and see how well it actually updates during the World Cup in June.
2010 World Cup is available for free from the Android Market.
i have to admit that the nhl playoffs are my first choice as far as sporting events....
but i will be getting up in the mornings to watch some of the world cup action. it's like modern-day gladiators except with nations playing soccer instead of actually fighting.
app pretty mediocre btw

Don't generalize about Americans, please!
I'm definitely going to be following this World Cup very closely and rooting for the USA. Soccer might not get enough media coverage in the states, but it's definitely my favorite sport.
The app isn't all that great though...anything better out there? Which gets me thinking - why didn't FIFA put out an official app?? Would be cool to have.
