Summary

Do you have a lot of time on your hands? Do you enjoy riddles? Are a very patient person? If your answer to each of these questions is “no”, then welcome to the club, you’re just like me! And yet, I really enjoyed playing Missing. If you like quirky riddles and are willing to be a little bit patient whilst playing, Missing might also be the game for you.

Features & Use

Section rating:

In Missing, you are a person trying to escape from a locked apartment. A shadowy figure sits on the floor and asks himself what happened to him the previous evening and questions himself about his whereabouts. The person then decides that he must escape and the game begins.

There are five different rooms which you can move around in. Arrows located at the bottom of the screen indicate the way. One of the rooms is furnished with only a bed, another is filled with furniture and objects, yet another contains a closet and a door, and the last two rooms are furnished with lockers and strange bricked windows.

You can “click around” each room with your finger by touching the objects. Sometimes a door will open up, or you’ll be able to zoom in and discover little items that might assist you in the breakout. You might find a pair of pliers, a thread, a battery, and other paraphernalia of the sort. It’s up to use these things.

You will need a bit of time to play this game as it isn’t all that easy to master and furthermore it isn’t possible to quit a game and restart it at the same point where you left it—that is to say, you always start from the beginning.

I have to be honest: I haven’t yet managed to complete Missing, but I find this game to be intriguing and set apart from other games.

Screen & Controls

Section rating:

The game begins straight away; whilst playing you can click on Help in order to find out how it works. This didn’t put me off, as controls are super simple: navigate using your finger and click on objects in order to “open or close” objects.

Collecting found objects is just as simple: all you have to do is click on them. There’s an Items button in the upper right corner that keeps track of the things you’ve collected. You can also access the items via this button. If you touch one of the items and click on Combine you can use two of the objects in conjunction with each other. Finding out what the items are good for is a bit tricky, and I have to confess that I lack a bit of patience, but I had lots of fun playing Missing nonetheless.

Speed & Stability

Section rating:

I didn’t have issues with the app’s speed, but the game was stopped automatically twice. I found this to be VERY irritating, because, as I already mentioned, the game starts all over again each time you stop playing.

Price/Performance Ratio

Section rating:

The game can be downloaded for free from the Android Market.
