No reason to worry because this time around we won’t be testing several games in a row. I just couldn’t resist sharing two of my new favorite games. Since both are really simple to play, I decided to make this test into a double feature! Find out if these two games are fun in today’s test…
Before we get started I would like to excuse myself for the poor quality of the screenshots. The reason for this problem is that the Google screen capture tool doesn’t work too well with games in motion. That’s why some of the screenshots may look a bit wobbly.
It’s difficult to assess the features and use of these apps since the games’ have only a couple of simple functions and are anything but useful (except for entertainment purposes).
Dot: Dot is a really, really simple yet extremely addictive game. As a player you start off with a white ball that you need to roll into a hole. Above the hole there’s a blue ball with a checkmark and a red triangle with an X. That’s the game’s basic idea: You have to “gobble up” blue balls to increase in size and avoid shrinking (your white ball is permanently getting smaller). Make sure to avoid the red triangles that cause you to shrink even faster.
The whole game is played from a bird’s eye perspective and you can control the ball using the phone’s tilt sensor. You have to try and survive for as long as possible while collecting blue balls and avoiding the red triangles. A flashing background makes the game even more challenging and difficult. After the game you can share your record time with others as a Facebook status or tweet it on your Twitter account. May not look like anything spectacular, but the game is guaranteed to hook you in. It’s just way too much fun!
Dot 2: The sequel to Dot follows the exact same game concept: roll a white ball, the white ball is constantly shrinking, collect blue balls to grow and please avoid the red triangles. It’s basically a carbon-copy of its predecessor. Even the social networking options are all exactly the same. On the upside, however, Dot 2 is in 3D: you are now racing down an endless road filled with balls and triangles. The controls are a bit tricky and you may need to jerk your phone sharply to the left and right in order to avoid certain obstacles.
Both games are really basic and don’t have any depth to them. This doesn’t change the fact that they are quite simply loads of fun to play and are also extremely addictive (trust me on this one!). Just give these games a try!
The fonts on the different screens are difficult to read at times. Dot 2’s game design, however, is really well-done. The futuristic music and interesting level designs make this game into a little gaming gem.
Both games didn’t cause any problems during the test. Dot 1 does have one little inconvenience. If you play the game for long enough, the screen turns off and you have to reactivate the screen to be able to see anything. That’s a bit annoying.
The app is available for free. A small ad banner is displayed on the main menu.
