Today I wanted to do a review on something that’s useful (in my opinion, at least). And no, this won’t help make your working life or organizational tasks any easier, but it might inspire you in your every day routine.
This review was written by Paulina Gegenheimer, a high school student.
Patrik’s Easy Cooking is basically a recipe book for your Android phone. The app was made by award-winning chefPatrik Jaros and food photographer Günter Beer, and the demo version contains ten recipes from different styles of cooking: there are breakfast recipes as well as ideas for making a snack, and of course main courses and desserts.
The full version provides 70 ideas for recipes. Seeing as I am a total cooking debutante, the demo version was sufficient for me—for the time being. I found it to be super practical to have recipes on my phone, as it’s a lot easier than having to run back and forth between your computer/internet, and I can’t imagine dragging my Grandmother’s recipe book around with me wherever I go. The app is especially useful for when you’re on vacation somewhere, or far away from your own home but you still feel like making something yummy to eat.
The app’s design is really nicely made. There an image to compliment every category, and the recipes are also presented beautifully.
Once you’ve selected a category and picked a dish you’d like to prepare you will see how difficult it is to prepare the food, as well as for how many people the recipe is for, and how long it will take to make it.
Beneath this information you will find a how-to with images that are displayed in the form of a presentation. I was quite impressed by this, because it really makes it possible for you to imagine what the recipe has in store for you.
You’ll also find the following things listed for each recipe:
• A visualized shopping list
• Step-by-step instructions (with images)
• The option to send the recipe via email, in case you want to share it with others or print out your recipe.
You can also save the recipes in your favorites within the app. This may not be necessary if you’re using the demo version, but it will surely prove to be useful if you upgrade to the full version.
The app comes with detailed instructions, and lists of all the functions (e.g. how to convert ml into teaspoon), which makes it easy to use the app, but isn’t really necessary as Patrik’s Easy Cooking isn’t particularly tricky to use.
Our international community may appreciate the fact that the app exists in several languages.
The app reacts quickly and precisely and there were no hang-ups or crashes during the testing phase. Ergo, I’m satisfied with Patrik’s Easy Cooking’s speed and stability.
The demo version can be downloaded free of charge from the Android Market. The full version costs €2,39, which is reasonable in my opinion, considering that real cookbooks cost a lot more than that but contain the same amount of recipes.
