Summary

Are you using your Android to write shopping lists, and every time you need to go to the store you have to write a new list? Wouldn’t it be neat if you could select the items from a pre-established list and then tick them off throughout the day? Hungry! wants to provide you with that option. Read on to find out more.

Features & Use

Section rating:

Hungry! is basically a grocery shopping list for your Android phone. You can enter the items you’d like to purchase into a list, and the next time you want to go shopping for these things all you have to do is select them from your list (every new entry is added to an overall list that lists all articles).

Simply click on the articles as you’re buying them and these will disappear from your list. You can also enter each article into a category. The categories have names and different colors.

If you’re like me and you tend to use your phone to write grocery lists this app may be a time-saver in the long run.

Screen & Controls

Section rating:

The overall list already has several entries of articles. The overall list and the food categories are in English.

There are three tabs at the top of the display, the first being for the overall list, the second for the list of categories, and the third for your own, personalized list. In order to put new articles on your list, turn your device—a new tab that allows you to write items on your list as well as choose a category/color will appear.

Pressing Add it! will place the article on your shopping list as well as on the overall list. If you press on a category/color for a long time you can make changes to it.

If you press down for a long time when you’re in the overall list or the category list a context menu will open up. You can delete or edit items using this menu. Editing means that you can change the name of the item as well as the category it’s filed under.

If you select the article from one of the first two tabs it will be added to the third tab, your list. When you’re shopping you can click on the items and they will disappear from your list.

The menu button gives you the following options:

• Undo
• Send (via SMS or email)
• More
Which, in turn, gives you the following options:

• Import
• Export
• Reset
• Settings
• Donate
• Help
• Release Notes
• About

The Settings are super useful:

• User Email
• Preferred Item Height
• Main Tab (select which tab is shown when you start the app)
• Prevent sleeping
• Always show Add tab (allows you to always add items, even when you’re holding your device upright)
• Switch to Add in Landscape (displays the Add button when you turn your phone)

You can also select which tabs will be displayed:

• A-Z Tab
• Color Tab
• Top Tab (most bought articles)
• History Tab

You can also choose whether the Undo button should be displayed or not.

Bottom line:
Hungry! is a useful app to have if you’re the type of person who goes grocery shopping a lot; if that’s the case, this app will save you a lot of time.

I’ve been typing out my shopping lists using AK Notepad, which meant that every time I went out to buy something I’d have to retype everything. Well, I won’t be needing to do that any longer!

The options listed under Settings are well chosen and allow you to configure the app according to your own preferences.

. Please add Web synchronisation (even if it has to be a pay version of app) And search. Also the ability to remove categories (I just want 4)

Awesome app! Hoping it comes to iPhone soon since I will be purchasing one. Only feature I would love to add is a way to calculate total bill!

It should keep statistics. It would be helpful for me if Hungry! would keep price statistics, so I could keep track of how much goods' prices fluctuate.

Crashed and caused me to force restart my phone. Interface lacks and choices or options are non existent. There are better list apps out there.

Great app Nice, simple and does the job. Love the colour coding of categories and the sliding action for quantities is pure genius. There's just a couple of options I'd like: 1) in the cart tab, could the purchased items get striked through and moved to the bottom rather than just being removed and 2) Collapsible lists using the relevant categories names and colours, would save having to scroll through all the items.

Excellent App, because it is simple. No unnecessary features, just an easy to use shopping list maintainer.
Gudda34, Feb 19, 2011
You can't make separate list. I need a list for Food, Household, Baby etc. Not just 1 long list. Other than that-Great app. Garmin Asus
