A cute alarm clock with a nice big timepiece display and lots of features—what more could you ask for from an alarm clock application? NightClock can also awaken you from your slumber by playing an MP3 track of your choice…
Read today's test review to find out how well NightClock fared our test trial!
First impressions:
Well, it’s a pretty nice looking alarm clock, with a good-sized timepiece display (is there an echo in here?).
NightClock can be configured in multiple ways and its stocked full with fun features:
• Alarm clock function with MP3 tracks as the alarm sound
• Snooze (can’t live without it!)
• Choose between 12 AM/PM or 24h time display
• Alter screen brightness, volume, font colour
Sounds like NightClock might be the alarm clock app for you? Well, please consider that the following three issues popped up during our testing round:
1. Even when you reconfigure the screen luminosity and turn the brightness all the way down the display will still be active all the time. This means that the screen constantly emits a light, which, even if it isn’t very bright, might disturb some users who are getting ready to “retire for the night”. What’s more is that the active display wears out the battery much faster than if your device wasn’t active.
2. If NightClock can’t find an MP3 track the alarm function is automatically deactivated. Too bad the app doesn’t come with one (or several) standard alarm sounds—that could easily resolve this slight hiccup—which isn’t actually so slight, as an alarm clock which fails to go off when it should can get lead to a fair amount of trouble.
3. It isn’t possible to have the application running as a background app. This means that if you want the alarm clock to be activated you are obliged to start up the app.
Bottom line:
It’s still a cute alarm clock which, on first glance, seems rather tempting with all its features… but on closer look one quickly sees a few cracks in the foundations. More user comfort wouldn’t go amiss here.
NightClock’s controls are perfectly okay, but, as mentioned in the previous category, there are simply too many glitches and that affects the app’s overall rating negatively.
NightClock ran really well throughout the testing phase. Good overall performance.
NightClock can be downloaded free of charge from the Android Market.

I like this app. It works well. It is designed to look like the 'old fashioned' digitial night clocks. You can add alarm times, it's easy to use, and is reliable. It would be a nice addition to your app list.
