Summary

The Christmas season is long over, and still those charming love handles remain, firm and present as ever. Your New Year’s resolutions – jotted down on a piece of stationary to REALLY help motivate yourself – are crumpled up at the back of some drawer. The weight loss topic usually makes its way into the top 10 of the list of resolutions for the new year. Even if weight loss can only really occur in small steps, it helps to keep track of the progress you’re making—a bit of motivation never goes amiss! JEFIT Pro - Workout & Fitness is an app designed by bodybuilders for bodybuilders… or for those who aspire to be in top physical condition. It’s an app designed to help you keep track of the progress you’re making—find out how well in today’s review.

Features & Use

Section rating:

Books about fitness can motivate those who are looking to get buff, or at least more so than half-hearted self-promises along the lines of "Yeah, whatever, I might make it to the gym next week, or maybe the following week...". Sticking to a tight schedule which includes making regular entries (logs) lets you see the progress you’re making—even if it is only peu-à-peu.

Weekly routines

The principle behind JEFIT Pro - Workout & Fitness are recurring weekly routines, i.e. your fitness programme for the week. Fill in your days with exercises and special training units. Mixing things up and not always having the same fitness routine prevents things from becoming too boring, as well as allows you to planify intense workout weeks and more chilled workout weeks according to your schedule.

Choose the right exercises to help you attain your goal

You can design every routine to include any exercise you like. JEFIT Pro comes with an impressive amount of workout ideas, categorized according to muscle groups. A plugin with visuals can be downloaded (requires 15 MB on your SD card). Training instructions are in English only, but thanks to the plugins you pretty much get the gist of every exercise even if your native language isn’t English.

Even though the number of exercises listed is, as mentioned, extensive, you may find that some of your favourites aren’t included, but there’s an option to create and manage entries for exercises you wish to include in your programme. Furthermore, there’s an option to include cardio exercises in your routine—brilliant! And if you’re the type of person who enjoys sports such as biking or swimming—never fear: the app will also include progress made thanks to such forms of exercise.

Training can commence!

Once you’ve settled on your workout routine you can begin with your training. Keeping an eye on your limits time-wise is made possible thanks to the Timer. Once you’ve adapted the settings to suit your programme it will notify you acoustically whenever the time is up. This also makes it possible to take a break between routines. You can set the amount of exercises to be done for each session. Go to the training section in order to enter your weight and the amount of times you wish to repeat a given exercises (“Reps”).

Aside from the settings, you can make use of the following options:

• Helpful chronological notes regarding individual exercises
• Logs in which you can keep track of your progress (these can also be written retroactively)
• Evaluate the progress you’ve made using a diagram
• Top your own personal best using “Beat It”

Extra Design for the Pro-Version

If you opt for the pro version of JEFIT you will be rewarded with a cool looking silver design. The free version is blue. The visual aids are easy to understand and will be useful to beginners when they start their training. Although the diagrams don’t quite fit into the app’s otherwise stylish aesthetic, they do fulfill their purpose.

Get familiar with the app in no time

Whenever one comes across apps that has as many functions as JEFIT Pro - Workout & Fitness, one has to dedicate a bit of time to suss everything out and get familiar with controls, etc. All of JEFIT’s functions can be found on the screen—no menu, which is why some of the buttons are a tad too small, sometimes making it difficult to hit the right one. If you find that setting up a routine is taking too long on your phone you can also opt to do it online. Honestly, it’s much faster to devise your routines online, rather than having to create every single exercise on the app. This option especially makes sense if you’re looking to create several workout routines, or if your programme is more extensive.

Great App! Love the concept! Love the app. Unfortunately, there is usually some small irritating glitch, but still worth it!

Perfection THE ONLY FITNESS APP YOU NEED. THESE DEVS KNOW WHAT BODYBUILDERS AND FITNESS FREAKS WANT. 10*app

Fantastic app Can't see many flaws with this app, absolutely brilliant for remembering how much I need to beat last week's routine by! I love logging!

Simply the best... For how I use the product, it is unbelievable. I have my routines for the gym on my phone and I can log it as I do it. I can also log progress (measurements, pics, etc). Very cool. I only wish it would automatically export to Fitocracy as well since I use the Fitocracy site. Kudos to the developers. Great work!

The best Extreamly useful

Decent, but a little buggy and short-sighted Lots of good exercises. Custom exercises is nice. Building your workout is very easy. Tracking is clunky, but manageable. Cardio "reps" and "duration" is bugged to the point of being useless. Negative values for weights not allowed, so can't track assisted dips or chins. Workout days being limited to weekdays us annoying; would like the option of Day 1, Day 2, etc, in case I have a workout schedule not based on a week. Good app, but still needs a few usability effect refinements. Would recommend.

Best exercise app I've tried, just needs a dew tweaks. Great app, just needs to add support for ICS (some bugs). It'd be great to see more variety in the exercise database and easier management of variation in exercises.

Brighter UI would be nice... I love this app. I can input all of my different routines in one place, track all of my stats and watch my improvement. My only gripe is I'm not a big fan of the silver/monochrome interface. It needs a little brightening up bc right now its looking kinda dull and boring. Great app otherwise. Thanks!

Great app Great app to keep you motivated to workout and track progress. Set up your routine and just show up to the gym. I would give it 5 stars but it doesn't have GPS to track distance and calories for outdoor cardio workout.

Inconsistencies mar an otherwise useful app I admit I'm a big fan of JEFIT and have been for 5 months now. However, every time I use it I feel like the developers didn't pay attention to the Android app development guidelines clearly set forth by Google on their developer page (inconsistent UI, lack of touch-and-hold/menu functionality, etc). Wake up, developers! Follow the guidelines for a more fluid and consistent user experience. Also, the exercises in the built-in database are inconsistently named. However, its still the best and most complete workout app I've found so far.

Everything i need The perfect companion to MyFitnessPal. One tracks my food while this tracks my exercise. Now I can have fully comprehensive data and well rounded tracking data.

MOVE TO SD NEEDED Good program. However, the fact that one cannot move this large app to SD card is INEXCUSABLE. Fix this, please.
