Summary

Some of you may wondering, What the bleedin' Android is Guild Wars?


Well, allow me to shed some light on the matter:


Guild Wars is an online game based on a class system and social units; its structure is similar to lots of popular MMORPGs', the difference being that PvEs (single players) and PvPs (multiplayers) are separated.


The Android app "Guild Wars® Skills & Builds" affords Guild Wars players with a very good overview of their skills and expertise. Now, it might sound a little odd that a person isn't aware of their skills, but Guild Wars enthusiasts will know what I'm talking about.


I hope I've managed to rouse some sense of curiosity in you—read today's test review to find out more about "Guild Wars® Skills & Builds".
 

Features & Use

Section rating:

The Android app gives you an overview of which skills are attributed to which professions, as well as which attributes are required in order to advance in the game. There's also an option to search through the skills, as well as descriptions for all the the skills.

The overview's structure is quite a simple one:


The first thing displayed at the top of the screen is which skill has been selected. Beneath it you can see which attribute is required, which of the 6 professions or professions couple with campaigns (4) can make use of the skill and in which campaign this skill can be aquired.
There's a small icon which indicates what the whole thing will look like in the actual game.

Players are also told what is required in order to use the selected skill:

 

  • Energy cost
  • Activation time
  • Skills regenaration (how long you have to wait until skills can be used once more)
  • Adrenalin cost
  • Life score cost
  • Energy regeneration

Skills can be displayed alphabetically or according to attrributes. Searching for skills according to the following criteria is also possible:

 

  • PVP/PVE
  • Basic campaign
  • Prophecies campaign
  • Factions campaign
  • Nightfall campaign
  • Eye of the North campaign

The following filters are also an option:

 

  • Elite skills
  • Victim skills
  • Role skills
  • Preservation skills

You can also search for terms—provided that you know what you're looking for and are simply curious to read up on something without wanting to spend ages searching.

There's talk of an upcoming option for so-called 'builds' (composed of 8 skills) which players will apparantly be able to share with others.

Bottom line:
One thing is certain: this is an app made for those amongst us who play Guild Wars or are thinking of taking up the game.

"Guild Wars® Skills & Builds" is a God-send for GW players who are eager to look up skills when they're on the go.


It might be a fun idea to include a map of the GW world, as well as an overview of the bosses. Developers, please take note :)!

"Guild Wars® Skills & Builds"'s controls are very easy to use, thanks to the app's tidy setup. Four self-explanatory buttons are located right on the homescreen.

"Guild Wars® Skills & Builds"'s performance is good: the app runs fast and smoothly. The app loads fairly quickly, seeing as all skills and images are included in the app. The skills data base is established when you first start up the app.

Does not provide builds as name states. English may be default language but the alphabetical sort function goes by the german name. Not useful, Uninst

Does what it sais, but a way to hide the german names would be awesome. And if u get the build function work again it be nice, and some broken english

Not a bad app, but I can't see how a noob could understand this well without knowledge of the icons for skills. Ebglish version = 4 almost 5 star...!

Decent utility for quickly looking up skills. Complete builds section for 4+ star. Also an elite skill cap location chart would be excellent. DroidX

I would have loved this app simply as a quick ref tool with friends, but half the English is broken, starting with the word Assassin.

Great potential with good layout. But I cant create builds and its the reason I wud like a portable guild wars app. Wud donate if I cud make builds.
