Summary

After reviewing all those games a few days ago I am back with a more techie app for all you clever Android fans out there. AndFTP is a FTP, FTPS, SCP, SFTP client software for Android devices (SCP is available in the pro version only). It has three main features: it manages FTP Servers and it has a FTP file browser as well as a device file browser. More details about what else it can do for you below.

Features & Use

Section rating:

Oh AndFTP, you handy little thing you.

It can manage several FTP configurations. It also provides a local file browser, an FTP file browser as well as options to upload, download and sync with support. What else? It lets users choose, rename and delete files, update permissions as well as create folders (folder synchronization is another pro version feature). It supports both FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and SFTP (SSH’s safe File Transfer Protocol).

AndFTP supports: FileZilla settings import, MLSD command and Dual SSH authentication.

Once a FTP server has been set up transferring data is a cinch—it’s fast and easy. Files that are to be transferred are highlighted and then sent.

Bottom line:

AndFTP is a useful app for all IT professionals as well as anyone who has an FTP account (bloggers, web developers, etc.)

Screen & Controls

Section rating:

AndFTP has a good UI and the touchscreen accuracy is great. Lists are a bit small, but I would say that most smartphone users and/or FTP client software users are used to squinting a bit every now and then.

Speed & Stability

Section rating:

AndFTP has been tested thoroughly by several of the AndroidPIT team members, and we all agree that performs pretty well. Its performance overall is quite impressive.

Price/Performance Ratio

Section rating:

AndFTP can be downloaded for free from the Android Market.

A little bit of a struggle to get but really fast and lots of feayures for a free app Set up is pretty simple if you have ever configured a ftp of sftp viewer before. I do like how if gives the active command window on the bottom of the screen so that it let's you know exactly what the app is doing. Great app

Crashing As of 2.4 andftp has force quits and random download/upload/stream error which leads to a crash. Was absolutely great until jelly bean.

Please allow Notepad type opening of files This App is great but I cannot open PHP files as the app states that they are unsupported file types. Please allow us to open these files in a text only format otherwise this app is pretty useless if I cannot edit any files.

Great but crashes Wonderful app, killer functionality; silently crashes when my screen sleeps (annoying for long transfers since I have to keep waking up the drowsy screen).

Excellent Using this to transfer music/books/TV from my local FTP. Really great performance, resume support is well-implemented, and the interface is generally intuitive. Definitely going to try the pro version.

Saved our company from a major bug This app is perfect! We accidentally deployed a critical bug in our production servers while I was away from any PC. I was able to SFTP in to our servers and make the necessary changes with this app without too much difficulty. Worked great and saved us significant trouble.

Love it! Great little app, nice and easy to use with a handy device file browser so you can easily find your files on your device. Using it on the wireless network at work to upload files to my server at home - nice and fast. Well done and keep up the good work ;) Using this app with a Samsung Galaxy 3 (Samsung GT-I9300).

Great client Love this app, has so much functionality, the interface is clean and not flashy which I really like but most important of all it works as it should.
