Summary

When I got a hold of my first smartphone, the one feature that finally convinced me to drop my old feature phone for a shinny new Xperia handset was the ability to  take and edit photos directly on my phone wherever I happened to be. But one thing has always bothered me about taking photos on smartphones; many Android apps have slow loading times and the lag between photos is often so long it's hard to take really candid snap shots. Sure, for posed shots they are great but taking spontanious pictures when you're faced with a time cruch can be a challange.Enter PhotoSequence Pro, a photo app that moves as fast as you do.

Features & Use

Section rating:

What PhotoSequence Pro boils down to is a lean app designed to allow you to quickly take photo sequences at film like frame rates. What this means is that when you have the app open you can take photos as fast as your heart desires. Just push the big orange button and let Photo Sequence Pro do the rest! Featuring adjustable exposure rates, resolutions and lighting and photo effect options, Photo Sequence Pro is a nice app for any looking to capture life in real time. In addition to taking photos at in unparalleled speeds, Photo Sequence Pro also allows you to edit and compose photos into sequences and compositions and share them via social media like Facebook or email/text message.

Taking photos with Photo Sequence Pro:
Taking a sequence of photos in the app is as easy as pointing the camera and pushing the big, orange button on the right side of the input window. A progress bar at the bottom of the screen shows how many photos the app has taken. After you've taken your sequence, your Android device will have to process the photos but on my Xperia play this went quick enough and with in 3 seconds the photos I had taken were transferred to Photo Sequence Pro's gallery.
If you're not content to use the standard settings in the app you also have the follow settings to play with:

Lens FX: normal, mono, negative, solarize, sepia
Flash: off or torch
Size: between 176x144 and 1280x720
Speed: between 10 and 100 fps

All sequences are saved to Photo SequencePro's gallery, where they can be edited , exported or saved to your phones gallery.
After you select a photo sequence from your apps gallery, the you can scroll through the sequence using a simple swipe movement, select individual frames and either edit or export single images or the entire sequence.

Editing options include:
Color and Photoshop filters or various design layouts, where you can arrange multiple photos into a collage.

One you've edited your sequence or image, it's easy enough export your creation to either to your SD card or any of the common connectivity options you choose.
The bottom line is that photo sequence pro is a no fills app that does exactly what it promises to: take photos really, really fast. It's easy to use and doesn't distract with feature it doesn't need to have. The app is ideal for anyone looking to use their Android device at sporting events, parties or anytime when speed is key.

Screen & Controls

Section rating:

The controls are easy enough to master and consist of a few easy to understand buttons and context menus that require little explanation to use. The only problem I have with the visuals of the app is the camera cutout that takes up around a third of the visible window. I personally would have appreciated a more minimal UI with buttons for the UI and now camera cut out but regardless the controls are functional and easy to use, which is just what you want in an app like PhotoSequence Pro.

Speed & Stability

Section rating:

When PhotoSequence Pro worked, it was fast even on my Xperia play. But we have to take off some major points for stability. In my 2-3 hours with the app it crashed no less then 6 times and we could barely get it to run on a Galaxy tab. I personally really like what I saw in terms of general app performance, but there are issues with the apps stability. Hopefully, the developers will be able to address this issue in future updates.

Price/Performance Ratio

Section rating:

PhotoSequence Pro's not the cheapest photo app on in the App Center but at $2.50 it's well worth the price for the functionality it provides.

Not working for me. App just closes after capturing and photos saved as blank images. Might be device specific.

Excellent... Just needs to add zoom..on GS 2 it takes 30 shots a second...one way I have used this App is to use a GIF stitcher (here in the Android Market -I won't call it 'Play', whatever the foolish new name is) to animate a sequence of Sequencer photos as one photo... fastest camera App in the West...
