Summary

Ugh, early morning hour, how I loathe thee. If you're anything like me – i.e. NOT a morning person – a good alarm clock is the only way getting out of bed at an ungodly hour becomes tolerable.
Being the lazy get-out-of-bed type person that I am, I'm always trying out new alarm clocks that promise new and ultra effective methods for getting you up and keeping you from climbing back under the covers.
For today's review I tested AlarmDroid Pro for you, check it out!

Features & Use

Section rating:

Test device: Samsung Galaxy S2 (I9100)
Android version: 2.3.6
Root: No
Runs as of: 2.1

AlarmDroid has been floating around for a while. AlarmDroid Pro is the ad-free version of the same app, and the developers have mentioned that new features will be available at some point. I'm not a fan of testing unlockers, which is why I'll be going into details in regards to the app's features.

The UI is nice and straight forward. Alarms are displayed in a list from where they may be switched on/off. Indivual alarms can be given names and snoozes can be set—and I love me a snooze function, can't live without it.

The app itself comes with only one ringtone, but you can also select something from the Android ringtone catalogue, or else from your own MP3s. For me, that's a strike against this app, as other alarm clock applications come with tons of great melodies and sound effects that help you start your day.

On the bright side, the app has a great feature by which users can choose how they wish to switch off the app and/or go to snooze: by shaking the device, turning it over, etc.

Please bear in mind that you must first install the free app and then go on to purchasing the pro version. Should ad banners still be displayed: please appeal to the developer, who is very quick to respond and super helpful.

Bottom line:

AlarmDroid Pro = good alarm clock.
This alarm clock must have been rather cutting edge when it was first released, but since then tons of other, more modern alarm clocks have come out (think: Gentle Alarm), and this alarm app seems a bit outdated. Still, to repeat myself, AlarmDroid is a very good and reliable alarm clock.

Screen & Controls

Section rating:

The alarms are shown on the main screen in list form. Long press on an alarm to delete, duplicate, edit it or to turn in into a one-time alarm. Quick press to switch it on or off.
The talking clock says what the time is as well as a text you tell it to repeat.
On the whole, we're very pleased with AlarmDroid Pro's performance: it's seamless and easy to use to boot.

Speed & Stability

Section rating:

AlarmDroid Pro runs without any problems whatsoever.

Price/Performance Ratio

Section rating:

It's a bit difficult to rate the app for this criteria. The standard app is available for free which is a good thing. That said, there aren't enough updates to guarantee that AlarmDroid can remain on the same level as some of the other very good alarm clock apps available in today's market. Furthermore, AlarmDroid Pro costs EUR 1,49 and has all of the same features as the standard version, minus the ads, despite the fact that there's mention of further functions (extended version), to which I can't concur. However, if you like the app, purchasing the pro version is a nice way to support the developer.

Simple...works. Now that the multiple alarms have been fixed I it doesn't seem to require force closing the app to get them to go away. Good job. The pro version is worth it. It does not have as many features as some I have seen but it works in the buttons are large for when you really want to snooze. Lol

Download it now! The only alarm app that has the capability of waking the dead. I've used this app for years and the only time I don't wake up is if my battery doesn't make it when I forget to plug it in. Thank you Fabian!!! :-D

Great Had this app awhile now (Galaxy SII) and it works great. Love it.

Best one out there Best app out of all the alarm ones I have tried. Better than the app that came with phone. This was the only app that I could write a long message name or label that displays big on the screen when alarm goes off. It has other great qualities.

Absolutely terrible! DO NOT BUY! Disgusted with this app as they cannot seem to get the bugs fixed.. Alarms don't go off.. Don't show on the widget, they don't even calculate the correct time to go off! Waste of time and money.. Steer clear

Perfect, Versatile I've used this app since I bought my DROID well over a year ago. I never had second thoughts about getting another app. It's simple, yet powerful, and supports multiple alarms. Always works. I just decided recently it was long overdue that I support the dev and pay for the app. The ads weren't even bad, I just like it that much. A+ recommended.

WONDERFUL ALARM This is a wonderful alarm. I love having a personalized wake-up message that tells me time, current weather, and the forecast. All of it customizable too.

I'm lazy... Scrolling to set the time is a pain. I'd like the option to set the time by typing it in.

Every Feature Going...! I have been using AlarmDroid Pro for a long time now. Every now and then I look for new apps that may be better, but I never find one that has features that this doesn't. The feature I like best is the ability to have alarms repeating every TWO WEEKS. I have found no other apps that allow this. Fantastic and thank you

Everything you want in an alarm app Glad to support the developer by buying the pro version, it's a great app!

UI Was better before update I like to set the time by typing in the number instead scrolling the wheel. It's very inefficient to set the time now.
