Features & Use
Test device: Samsung Galaxy S2 (I9100)
Android version: 2.3.6
Root: No
Runs as of: 2.2
This cult app from Korea not only impresses with it great features, it's also free! But can it hold its own against other big name apps?
Let's cut to the chase: pudding camera is a pleasant surprise. There are different filters to chose from, all of which symbolise rolls of film. Wide angle and fish eye effects are also available.
The app's main language is Korean, but there are plenty of symbols to help you figure things out.
A few effects are preset, and there are more to choose from (panorama, film that will change the colour of an image, etc.). Example images are displayed so that you can see what the results of using a given effect will look like.
There are nine different cameras and eight filters to play around with. Taking a nice picture does require a little bit of skills, however, especially when using the great analogue light regularot (-2.0 - +2.0). Tabs for high image resolution (1280px) are also available.
Bottom line:
pudding camera is a wonderful camera app and a good alternative for users who don't want to spend money for filters and effects. The image quality is rather good, the app is easy to use, sharing stuff on social networks is possible and the design is nice. In all, pudding camera ticks all the right boxes.
Screen & Controls
The app may be in Korean, but it is easy to use nonetheless. The tabs are self-explanatory and the most important features were translated into English. The pudding camera UI is really pretty and controls are easy.
Speed & Stability
pudding camera performed very well duing our test phase. The live image was surprisingly good and managed to give pay-for apps a run for their money. No instability issues, either.
Price/Performance Ratio
As mentioned only about a trillion times so far in this review, pudding camera is free, and we like that. The app comes with a generous does of cool features and the results are very nice indeed.
