Summary

I never understood why some maths teachers banned calculators. I mean, sure, training one's brain to do a bit of simple mental arithmetic is never a bad thing (and will help prevent making a royal fool of oneself, as was the case with me just recently at the check out counter), but neither is learning how to make the best out of a good calculator! Office calculators proved to help make certain tasks and calculations a lot easier. If you're also a calculator fan, check out our review of Office Calculator Pro.

Features & Use

Section rating:

Office Calculator Pro can take over a lot of your workload when employed correctly.

Virtual register tape

Tape can be a bit of a lifesaver when there's question of how a certain sum was attained. Office Calculator Pro comes with a special tape view thanks to which you can double check the last 500 lines that have been calculated. This is the sort of instance in which it really makes sense to have an office calculator, and not a scientific or more standard calculator.
It strikes me that having a feature that would allow users to export the virtual tape via email or text file would make a lot of sense and be quite handy. Unfortunately, this feature is not (yet?) included.

Calculation features

Floating points and fixed points are absolutely not the same thing, and while using one instead of the other won't make a dramatic difference when doing simple calculations it will prevent from getting precise results, which is why it makes perfect sense to use floating points. The app has a floating point arithmetic that has 64 bits as per IEEE standard (double precision).

Figures can be rounded up or down or 5/4. Calculating percentages is also a cinch, and the tape feature helps keep track of everything.
Office calculators don't tend to have point before line calculation options, and the same is true for today's featured app. This means Office Calculator Pro is made for handling office tasks, but not complex calculations.

Bottom line:

Again, Office Calculator Pro is not a scientific calculator. It's perfectly suited for handling office tasks or home economics and we recommend it especially thanks to its great virtual tape option.

Screen & Controls

Section rating:

Using Office Calculator Pro is pretty much like using a real calculator. The keys are placed intuitively and in a manner that makes them easy to use. The app has three skins (Fresh, Tender and Grays) which help mix things up a bit, and the landscape view is great (once it's been activated in the settings, that is).

Speed & Stability

Section rating:

Office Calculator Pro performed nicely throughout our test runs.

Excellent simple calculator, especially if you work with percentages a lot Methodically laid out display. Very useful if you work with prices and need discount calculations using percentages, e.g. if you're are a retailer. Best Android calculator I've come across for these requirements.

Doesn't automatically insert decimal point Key response is too slow on Nexus4; there is a noticeable lag between touch and response. Should be immediate; if you try to press keys to fast it triggers the screen zoom. Can't get it to automatically insert the decimal point; always floats. Also devs website link is just a blank blue page

permission to control hardware? you state that it requires no special permissions EXCEPT for hardware controls (vibration). my question is why would a calculator need this permission? odd! if you can fix this in a future update i would gladly give it a higher rating. thank you.

Awesome app Reminds me of my old calculator I had on my desk 20 years ago. It always worked, just like this app. Great job.

Love it immediately! Worth every penny. Didn't want ads or permissions so bought it and hoped I wasn't sorry. Love it. Love the virtual tape and being able to list items on it. Can't wait to learn all its features. Great job! Suppose to be 5 stars.

Professional It works like a charm! I use it for the everyday counting in massive merchandising task. I can save the results or correct a mistake made early on in counts and it recalculates my total. I feel lost without it.

Top of My Calculator App List Most all the Functions that I want, (like the Plus/Minus Change Button, a History Tape that can be Edited or Sent via Text or Email, a Percent Button, Plus a Percent-Equals Button, Memory Buttons, {use these instead of Parentheses}). Useful and Easy to read Adding Machine Type Calculator~! Adds the way I want ... 35+3.39+.77+9.01%=42.69, {I still want Parentheses}. Cons: Wish the Skins had some 3D Effect and more Colors other than Pastel. I like the History Tape Color Choices better on the RDev Calculator.

Exactly what I need *** Works exactly as I expected, nice options, I'm sure it will only get better. A left handed option in landscape mode would make it perfect and get the fifth star !!!

Best calculator on Android! Latest update brings it up to 5 stars for me. Oversize + button is really useful. Works great. Suggestions : (1) Custom key layouts & sizes (2) Option for lockscreen calculator
