Summary

On some days keeping track of everything is a real challenge, and balancing office time and family time requires a fair bit of coordinating. Smartphones are designed to help make this type of thing that much easier by providing users with a portable, virtual to-do list via which they might structure and plan their daily activities and obligations.

Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List is one of many apps that promises to do just that. Read on to find out if we were convinced by this app's performance.

Features & Use

Section rating:

Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List makes a good impression right off the bat: the app's UI is clutter-free and feels intuitive thanks to its sleek design and setup.

In my mind to-do lists are tools that should bring about or at least facilitate a better overview of upcoming events, chores and obligations, rather than confuse users and slow them done. This means to-do lists should be fast and easy to use—and that's exactly where Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List scores big points, because fast and easy to use it is.

Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List is a classic kind of to-do app, which is why I will spare you the trouble of having to read through yet another play-by-play account of how it functions. In a nutshell: the user writes down tasks, adds a due-time and due-date and can then either check the app when they need reminding of what's on or else have their smartphone notify them of things.
What interested me when it came to Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List is how efficient it is when it comes to fine tuning. Does it allow users to personalise without becoming too muddled and confusing? In other words, does the app's functionality reflect the same ease of use as its design?

To make things short, the answer to the above questions is yes on both counts. Tasks can be sorted and filtered any number of ways thanks to the app's rudimentary settings, certain events can be highlighted or else not displayed and lists can be sorted according to categories. Granted, all this is to be expected from any half-baked to-do app.

What's really interesting when it comes to Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List is that it affords users with good options when it comes to each individual task. Tasks can be given names or titles, comments can be added and what's more this fairly standard feature is improved thanks to a speech input option. The app harbours a bunch more options than some of the market favourites, such as Any.Do. More settings options: setting a task's priority, due date, notification alarm and more.
Which leads us to a few drawbacks. For instance, complex alarm patterns aren't possible, nor is integrating lists to the Google Calendar.

However, it is possible to sync with Google Tasks, which is a definite bonus.

Bottom line:

Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List provides users with a simple but relatively potent and well connected option to setup and organise to-dos. In some cases ease and comfort of use trumps intricate design and this is certainly one them.

The drawbacks as I see them are that there's no option for integrating the Google Calendar and that it isn't possible to set up more sophisticated alarm notification patterns. The fact that the app otherwise performs beautifully when it comes to syncing with Google servers makes up for this to some extent.

Screen & Controls

Section rating:

In this category Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List shows how much potential can be found in Android design guidelines. The UI is clean, sleek and functional and fits with the overall Android aesthetic.

Some of the more comfort-orientated features such as a dark theme for AMOLED displays or 'quitting' tasks via swipe are not (yet?) implemented, preventing us from awarding this app a full five star rating.

Speed & Stability

Section rating:

Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List performed very well throughout our test runs, including syncing to Google servers. Absolutely no problems to report on this front.

Price/Performance Ratio

Section rating:

Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List costs EUR 3.79 and can be downloaded from the AndroidPIT App Center and Google Play. It is free of ads and considering its sleek UI and great performance we feel this price is fair.

As our app of the week Tasks To Do Pro, To-Do List is available for EUR 1.89 for this week only!

Spot on Timothy! Gtasks is simple and easy to use, and its free. Unfortunately, the new look just doesn't suit me. So, I have to stay on the older version 0.9.9.
I've tried several similar apps, but Gtasks seems to suit me best. Too bad about the new look.

Very nice offer, it's just that I already installed GTasks, and find that a very suitable - free - app.
Both apps have their own way of thinking about managing tasks, so if GTasks is nothing for you, this is an app to try definately try out!

Replacement for Astrid It's good enough. Has custom repeat and the ability to perform or initiate most actions from the widget. However, viewing by category is clumsy and can't select a single category to view in the widget (almost brought rating down to 3). There are a few other minor shortcomings but like I said, it's good enough.

Best Task Organiser Having reviewed many similar apps some time ago I identified this as being the best – to my mind it is the only one that does task management properly. Particularly the ability to sort and present due tasks in a clear and meaningful way, with many user options. Quick and easy to set up a new task with appropriate info such as due date, priority and category, with user definable defaults meaning that most times these will be set correctly without having to change them. I have not been disappointed during the many months I have been using this app. 6 stars at least. It now has an additional winning feature for users of the Hebrew calendar app, Hebdate. (Hebdate is to Hebrew calendar apps, what Task To Do is to task apps – the best.) The new feature enable you to(optionally) use the Hebdate calendar rather than the in-built Tasks To Do calendar to select the due date of your tasks. This is especially important for tasks with a due date around a festival (and equally important if your task date must avoid being on/around a festival).

Great app, stop looking & buy it! The ability to do backups, add notes to tasks, & create custom categories are all great.  It is very configurable, yet simple.  It is easy to add even the most detailed tasks. Being able to dictate task titles & notes is a big time saver. It makes great use of screen real estate, being able to see both the task titles & notes without cluttering the view. Will give you 5 *s if you add filter for future tasks & multiple reminders.

Finally truly recurring tasks I have been looking for months for a task organizer that allows for recurring tasks, like paying a bill. This is the only one I found that actually does this. Once you mark the current task as done, poof, the next one is automatically created on the list. Yea!

Perfect Exactly what I needed. Great app and highly recommended.

Great for repeating tasks. This is not my main Google Tasks app - GTasks is. However, I wanted Astrid-like repeating tasks, and this app does that perfectly. I set tasks that, once completed, will be repeated with a due date set x days after completion. Since it syncs to Google Tasks, it then syncs to GTasks. The app itself is a bit wonky with syncing - for example once I moved a ton of tasks around to different lists on the website, and then I think this app synced a copy of them all into the default list. It also syncs all of my completed tasks ever which is weird and slows the app down on first sync. Whatever, it was just a bunch of clicks to clear. The one feature that I would really like though is to change what time counts as a completion date - for example if I mark something off that repeats every day before I go to sleep at 1am on saturday, it should count as having been completed on friday and then be repeated on saturday.

Awesome app. Very neat and works! Love this app. Very good layout. Clean design. Functional. Only request I have is to be allowed to set multiple alarms for a task, so I can get more than one reminder to start begin.

Well done... But I need a few different display options. It would be REALLY helpful to have a "due this week" option, or "due within 7 days". I need to be able to just see what's due, but want to see what's started or waiting without having to change views. This will make repeating tasks much more useful.

Excellent Simple and do the job perfectly.

It screwed up all my Toodledo tasks All categories (Toodledo folders) of my tasks gone with first sync. No way to display tasks by context. Uninstalled.

nice but Hi dev. Please add swipe left / right got categories?
Dave, Nov 3, 2012
Awesome program Highly recomend this program
Emerald, Oct 21, 2012
Great, but use contexts Very clean, simple & uncluttered design, but sorely miss @contexts. Assumed it'd display/use them as Toodledo does (& desc mentions GTD). Can we get them? Please :)

Good app but Buggy App has potential to be a great app but is very buggy. Notes added to a Task also gets added to several other Tasks. Only way to clear it is to open task, and resave it. Also, takes about 10 seconds for app to start. Doesn't stay in memory. Doesn't have ability to search for a Task. Can't sort individual task lists separately. Several other bugs too many to mention. Emailed list of issues to developer 10 days ago, still haven't heard from them.

Brilliant. Have this app on my phone and Xoom Tablet. Exactly what I need and everything syncs effortlessly. Admit a small problem on my tablet updating to Jelly Bean but an email to developer was answered within an hour and problem was sorted. Also offered immediate refund if solution failed, but the solution worked so no refund necessary. A must have app.

Running fine, it just works. Had a crash problem once, wrote the developer and he answered me the same day + released an update to fix the problem.
