Widgetsoid – Widgets, widgets everywhere
Tested version: 4.2.2
Latest version: 4.2.6
Requires Android: from 2.1
Summary
The Android homescreen that can be personalised to infinity and back with widgets and whatnots is quite simply fantastic. There are the stock widgets and then there are tons of other widgets that users can pick and choose.
Widgetsoid is one of my personal highlights—this nifty tool allows users to construct their own widgets and bask in the creative freedom this affords...
Features & Use
Let's not mince words about it: I love Android! One of the main reasons for this is that Android devices are highly adjustable, be it via custom ROMs, launchers, etc. This makes the user experience very individual.
This is also why I appreciate widgets. They make for quick and easy access to some major functions (Wi-Fi, Buetooth...). And I love to build my own widgets, so I was more than happy to try out Widgetsoid. This app comes with 50 (!) different functions which can be navigated via widget. The size and appearance of the widget itself can also be adjusted.
So what core features does Widgetsoid have? Aside from standard cuntions functions such as GPS, Bluetooth, data traffic and luminosity we really appreciate the advanced features this app has to offer. For instance, you can adjust the CPU rate, RAM and main memory, and if you're handy with that sort of thing you'll appreciate having easy access straight from the homescreen.
There are also functions geared towards loudspeakers, audio input, switching the NCF on/off, pausing or playback for music, changing input language, using the LED flash as a flashlight/torch...
Once you've selected the function you want you can get cracking at creating a widget to go with it. Round corners, separation lines, background colours, you name it. Don't get overwhelmed by the number of options, you'll get the hang of it!
Bottom line:
If you think you might enjoy creating widgets for functions you'd like to have handy at all times, try Widgetsoid. The app does what it promises to do, and that's about all there is to it.
Screen & Controls
The Widgetsoid interface could be set up in a more straight-forward manner. It feels slightly cluttered and confusing. Furthermore, widgets always look more or less the same, despite all the options for changing their appearance.
The tablet version is good.
Speed & Stability
Widgetsoid performs absolutely flawlessly in this department and there were no issues with its performance. The buttons work flawlessly, there are no loading times and the app is very stabile.
Price/Performance Ratio
Widgetsoid is free from the AndroidPIT App Center and Google Play. The free version has almost as much to offer as the full version. With that said, you can show your support for this handy app by buying the donate version for only €1.

"cuntions"??? How's that for autocorrect...brilliant. My new favourite word! I think you meant "functions".
And now you're using the Asus Transformer Pad? Good to know that Widgetsoid works just as smoothly on that model.

Whoops, right on, Nathan Byrne, that's a rather unfortunate (yet hilarious) typo. Thanks for pointing it out!
