Slender Man! Chapter 1: Alone
Tested version: 2.4
Latest version: 3.8
Requires Android: from 2.0.1
Summary
Many of you will already have heard of Slender, a big hit amongst scary game fans. Unlike most other horror games – which often feel stuffed to the brim with details and weird effects – this game stuck to the basics and yet still manages to give us the chills. Sometimes less is definitely more!
Let's find out more about Slender Man! Chapter 1: Alone, an app that brings the game to the tiny (i.e. smartphone) screen.
Features & Use
Tested on: Samsung Galaxy Note II
Android version: 4.1.2
Root: No

Slip into the role of a person who wanders around at night in a desolate area, only to come across what looks like a word of warning written out on several hidden papers: “Run!”. And run you should, because “Slender Man” is hot on your tail. This creepy figure wears a suit, has long arms and – shudder – no face to speak of. His goal is to drive your character mad.
The more papers you find the more you'll have Slender Man hot on your trail, and believe me when I tell you that it gets to be quite scary.
The goal is to collect all eight pages—without running right into Slender Man's arms, of course.
There are three difficulty levels to choose from as well as options such as activating fog. The score enhances the game's creepiness factor, and the sound effects are just plain scary. The closer Slender Man is the more sounds you'll hear and your vision will be impaired. Pay heed to these warnings signals and get away from there as quick as you can before Slender Man shows up!
I don't want to give too much away and so will refrain from going into too many details. I don't want to spoil the fun, after all.
We're knocking off a point because the game did not always close correctly: sounds would continue to play in the background.
Bottom line:
Slender Man! Chapter 1: Alone is a nicely made clone of the popular indie game, and in many ways it's just as bone-chilling as Slender. If you're into horror games and the horror genre in general go ahead and give this a go, you might just like it!
Our tip: this game is especially fun when played in the dark! We also recommend using headphones.
Screen & Controls
Most of the Slender Man! Chapter 1: Alone are in black and white, giving the game a mysterious and somewhat retro feel.
Controls are great: move the character around using the joystick at the bottom left and rotate the camera using you finger. I'm very impressed with the controls, they are the reason why Slender Man! Chapter 1: Alone is my favourite Slender clone.
Price/Performance Ratio
Slender Man! Chapter 1: Alone costs €0.98 and is available from the Google Play Store. A fair price, if you ask me.
