Have you ever wondered what your own caricature would like? Or have you ever wanted to make a sketch of a friend, but didn't possess the natural talent to do so? If that's the case, then Photo Deformer Plus is the right app for you! Using Photo Deformer Plus, making caricatures of your friends will be quick and easy. Whether or not this app is as cool as it sounds, you'll find out in today's test review.
Features & Use
Caricatures have a really political connection for me. Whether in a newspaper regarding actual news or an issue of dispute or on a title page of certain magazines, caricatures of famous people have always had their place in the media. But how would you look as a caricature? You can quickly discover the answer to your question by using Photo Deformer Plus!
When you open Photo Deformer Plus, you are brought directly to the main window, which presents caricatures that have already been created, among other things. The user can chose between two options: either you take a picture with your smartphone's camera or you choose one that is already in your photo gallery. As soon as you've taken a picture or chosen one, it bring you to the editing window.
The editing window allows you to take a picture of yourself or of a friend and transform the facial features. There are seven different tools at your disposition, each having three different sizes and strength levels. You have the tool to twist picture cut-outs and another one to expand, shrink or move certain parts of your face. Do you want to give your friend an extremely long chin or a huge nose? It's all do-able with this app. Another tool allows you to create a crazy hairstyle. If you've made a mistake or don't like the results, the ''back'' button is available to undo any mishaps.
As soon as you've finished creating your caricature masterpiece, you can see the transformation start to end progression using the play button. The animation can be saved as a GIF and forwarded to your friends. As an alternative option, you can play the transformation yourself using the control bar. To see exactly how this works, simply take a look at the embedded video above.
For those who just don't feel like spending the time on manually creating a caricature, there are pre-set modes available. The face on the picture will be recognized and changes belonging to the various transformation options will be implement to your selected pictures. Here you also have the option to play the start to end transformation.
Photo Deformer Plus doesn't just offer many different caricature options, but also different ways to save your creations. Like I mentioned earlier on in the review, you can save your caricature as a GIF file. You can save them as normal pictures too. If you want to share your picture with your friends and family, you can do this with either the GIF file or normal saved picture.
Photo Deformer Plus does exactly what the title explains. If you have a bit of patience and put a little effort into it, you can come up with some really funny caricatures of yourself or your friends and see the before and after transformation played in a video. For those who are avid about photo editors, Photo Deformer Plus could be another one to add to your list.
Screen & Controls
Photo Deformer Plus can be used quite easily and is structured quite clearly. If you are already aware of how to use apps like Fatbooth, for example, then operating Photo Deformer Plus will be a slice. It would be really useful if the tools actually named exactly what they can do, because you always have to test them out before knowing for sure. But all in all, you actually won't have any big problems working this app, from beginning to end. That is why I gave it four stars.
Speed & Stability
Photo Deformer Plus worked quite well through the entire test session. There were no speed or stability problems.
Photo Deformer Plus is available for free in the App Center. The app isn't ad-free, but you can have them taken away by paying 99 cents. However, I find it totally ok to pay developers for their hard work and I didn't hesitate when it came to paying that price. When comparing this app with other ones, 99 cents is a little much for what you actually get. That is why I gave it three stars.
