I heard a rumor that the Droid Eris will not be receiving the 2.2 update. Anyone know if its true?

HTC stated that all their phones released in 2010 will receive the 2.2 So the question remains.. does it mean the release date.. or the year most people got the Eris (which of course is this year). Personally.. I think it would be pretty messed up if they didn't give the Eris the update because we still don't have all the Bluetooth bugs worked out.. which a Verizon tech said would be fixed in the 2.2 for the Eris. So I guess only time will tell. But one thing is for sure.. and that's.. that someone in the next few post will tell you differently.

you got that right jay...Eris does not have memory nor the processing power for 2.2..it will be unstable and slow...but maybe u can download a leak for 2.2, we all know there's always a leak

When 2.1 came out for Eris it didn't have some of the features phones like the MOTO Droid had in it's 2.1 like live wallpaper or the cool gallery for photos etc. Therefore I think that it would be safe to say that if they do make 2.2 for Eris it will be a stripped down version. I seriously doubt the Eris will see Flash 10 etc.

I still don't think its going to get the update..the phones not worth it to the carrier especially with the incredible out and the Droid x and Droid 2 coming out this summer.

I also read (i think it was on Engadget) that the Droid Eris has been discontinued or something like that. Check it out if you are curious.
...it stated that they are no longer selling on the online store.. many stores still have stock.. and don't worry.. the MOTO Droid will be next on the chopping block.

im my opinion the motorola droid is still a ways off from the choping block. the droid is the phone that defined android and soooo many people own a droid im thinking it will continue to get updates for some time now..this is just my opinion

The Droid is slated to get an Android 2.2 update around July, but who knows. Verizon is going to have 4 really good devices come the end of this summer if they don't drop the Droid. Probably the best Android selection available. The Droid also got a price cut (or is getting one), from an article I saw a couple weeks ago. I'm not really sure exactly what that means.

... once the Eris is gone.. the MOTO Droid will be Verizon's oldest Android.. and the less powerful... and if I was going to get an New Android now.. I would either get the Droid X or Incredible.. or for those needed a keyboard.. the Droid 2. So the MOTO Droid will be the next on the drop list.. out with the old.. in with the new.
