depends if It's not native to your system then probably not my htc amaze has it out of the box (in canada) I know some phones here only have USB tether and not WiFi and then others don't have it at all I think you can get an app to give USB tethering without rooting but if It's WiFi tether you want I'm pretty sure you have to root

You won't be able to employ iptables binaries without root

which presupposes netfilter is baked into your kernel

Try PDA net from june fabrics it sounds shady but it isnt it is very good been using it for over a year :vader:

I use pdanet to get my pc online with my cell. id like todo the same with my galaxy3 tab. says there both paired thru bluetooth, yet its not wrkn. do u no if maybe the prob is the galaxy3?

Well, Yes it is possible you can do that all you need to do is goto the settings and under the wireless settings click on more settings, you'll see a option tethering and portable hotspot, use it to tether your mobile internet connection. :D
