Why my htc can not be connected to the Internet?

I have bought a new HTC G2 phone, but i do not know why it can not be connected to the Internet? and it also can no work in the area of wireless network! Do anyone know why?

Are you getting an error message when you try to connect on wifi? Also, do you have a data plan to access 2G and 3G data?
