I know the app itself is free to download, but i need to know if you end up having to pay any money to play the game? And if not money... does it use DATA from your plan?

Yup, to display the ads it will use data. You can turn off 3G connectivity when playing though. Just remember to kill the app after playing and turning on your data.

Some of Angry Birds games are free from Google play so anyone can download them. I have paid lots of money to get one or two series of Angry Bird games and I enjoyed a lot. I have completed few stages of this game. Still I try to complete this game.

Even I agree, that uses your data plan. As far as I know about paying money, then no it's free.

I downloaded all Angry Birds games for Android for free, and always play them with data off (because it keeps the ads out) - so yes, they're free, and no, they don't require data (but they will use it if you're connected).

Yes, this game use your data plan for advertising.

I play Angry Birds to death (the free one) and it doesn't cost me any data. I just turn my data off before I play it, that all! ;)

Yes, it's pulling data in through Ads.

Also, Rovio using Flurry analytics so game usage statistics will also being pushed back out at your expense I'm afraid!
