All you Galaxy S2 Power users out there - come and get it!
This build is very much near perfect so we believe that Samsung will actually start rolling out the Official Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S II very soon. The day Samsung starts to roll out the official update you will be able to install the latest update through Kies or OTA update.

Some of the Enhancements in the new Jelly Bean Update:
- Buttery Smooth Performance & Great Stability (Thanks to Project Butter)
- New TouchWiz Nature UX (Same UI as of the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II)
- Samsung’s Cloud services
- Direct Call, Smart Stay and Pop-up Play Features
- New Widgets From the Galaxy S III
- 2 Home screen modes
- New Notifications bar
- Google Now

This is a PRE-RELEASE version so not official from KIES.
As this is a PRE-RELEASE firmware so expect some minor bugs.

Firmware Details:
Android Version: 4.1.2 – JZO54K (Jelly Bean)
PDA: I9100XXLSJ
CSC: I9100OXXLS1
MODEM: I9100XXLS6
Changelist: 462349
Build Date: 6th November 2012

Download: I9100XXLSJ/I9100OXXLS1/I9100XXLS6

download it here:

Hi Rondell, not sure. In the release notes it does mention that this is a European release. The phone nomenclature for this release is Galaxy S2 GT-I9100. If your phone is the GT-9100 you should be good to go.

note- Sammy releases often to Eurpoe first but the other countries come out pretty quick afterwards.

Good luck.

Chris

Aayush, I don't think so. I know that the SGS2 is unbrandable. so you can remove branding. But I believe that you have a different model.

I'm sure the final is coming soon and will be rolled out to the US and Asia..

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2(SGH-T989) is it compatible with this because I didn't see my model on the list? Also, is this for rooted phones?

Dido De-Gapi
is it compitable with I9100g ?

Taken from Samsung Wiki page......

"Galaxy S II - Model GT-I9100G
The Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100G was released in late 2011, and is usually sold instead of the original GT-I9100 in certain markets (mostly Asia and some parts of Europe). An overview of the Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100G can be seen on Samsung's official website.[67] It features a Texas Instruments OMAP4430 SoC instead of the Exynos in the GT-I9100. It is visually identical to the GT-I9100, as well as having the same 1.2 GHz processor speed and dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor technology. However, the CPU processing core is of a different design and the GPU is replaced by a PowerVR SGX 540 graphics processor. While practically equivalent, the different SoC makes this variant incompatible with custom ROMs intended for the I9100. It has gained support for aftermarket firmwares such as CyanogenMod 9.[68]"

But don't quote me on it... Chris would probably better answer your question

I believe that the i9100g has a different chipset. So I would say no.... But I am not sure. I'll try and find out though.

SAK, sure. You should receive the final when it comes out to your area (India-Asia).

By the way, you can install any firmware that is designed for your phone by using the Odin tool.

You should find all the info you need here:

If I install this version of Jelly Bean, how do I upgrade to the official release version when it appears? Do I have to get back to 4.0.4 or I can upgrade directly?

Paul, no you won't, you can simply update the newest firmware just like you did this one. Also this is original Sammy. So no problems there.

Hi Joseph, no, sorry, your phone is not compatible. Yes this can be rooted

So would this be a straight forward root?....or is it different since its a custom rom?

This is not a custom rom. This is an original firmware pre-release from Samsung. So the root rules apply as for any original firmware. Yes, strait forward root. But be careful which approach you use. There are solid instructions at the XDA site. I. Posted a link earlier.

ok great thanks....and thanks for clearing that it is not a custom rom....I always seem to think that because it is not an official release, that it must be custom ....lol

Nevermind.. Home Button + Power Button for 2 seconds and it works!

Thanks a lot!!

Hello Chris,

Like I said a couple of days ago, I installed this pre-release version of jb on my galaxy s2. All is fine, even though I can;t seem to "feel" Project Butter. Still some lags.
Now I want to know how can I go back to ICS 4.0.4 official ROM. My phone is not rooted.

Thanks,
Paul

Paul,

Download the 4.04 from here:

www.sammobile.com in the firmware section.

And install it the same way you did JB.

Does your phone have to be rooted to get this? And I'm a brand new S2 user so am unsure of rooting it because of the voided warranty? Help (:

Calvin, no. no root needed. This is an original Samsung firmware and does not have warranty issues.

Hi Christ, the latest firmware upgrade does not recognize by Samsung Kies in my country, I reckon I have to upgrade the future official firmware via OTA or use ODIN to flash it?
