The Acer Liquid S2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be capable of recording digital video at 4K resolution: that's 3,840 x 2,160p video capture (Full HD is 1920 x 1080p). That's 8.3 megapixels at an aspect ratio of 16:9! The thing is, no smartphone is capable of playing back this standard of video and 4K television isn't even all that widespread yet. So the question is: is this overkill?
