Google Nexus 5 — How to capture photos while recording with Nexus 5

Hey!

If you are wanting to take a picture of some incredible scene while you are shooting a video, it is actually super simple. Here's what you need to know

  • When the video is recording
  • Tap on screen to capture the picture
  • the picture is saved to your gallery app on your phone
  • the video will continue to record

This mobile capability, and a couple of other small enhancements, are to be found in the version 3.2 update to the Google Camera. Once you launch a video, the shutter button slides to the right for taking pictures. It appears this could be only for Nexus devices, however: I was able to snag the 3.2 update from the Play Store on a Nexus 5X.
