So, this has probably happened to you....

One wrong move, navigating too quickly or an evil bug: there are many unfortunate events that can lead to accidentally deleting a file, video or pictures. But not all is lost! Today we’ll show you how you can recover these lost files that you hold dear from the catacombs of Android with two easy methods.

With your PC

You don’t really need to have root access on your Android device to be able to retrieve the lost files, videos or pictures from your smartphone or tablet. What you will need though is a computer and a program such as Recuva.

  • Connect your device to the PC. Launch Recuva Select your device from
  • the list on the top right side and click on scan.
  • Once the scan is
done, select the file and click recover.
  • A preview of your file isn’t
available, but don’t worry, it’s completely normal. This time, make
sure you save your files on your computer. Here’s another tip: with
Recuva you can also check many files to be able to recover them all
    at the same time.

You can also use a Recuva alternative called 7-Data Recovery, which works generally the same way.

With an app

Many apps allow you to do the entire procedure right from your Android device, but you need to have root access in advance. An recommendable app is DiskDigger, which allow you to dig up files from the internal storage or microSD card.

The functions are similar to the PC procedure mentioned above. Simply start a scan of your device, and then select the files that you want to recover. You can easily preview the pictures and videos that were deleted and the application also makes it possible to have them sent to you via email.

Did one or both of these methods work for you? What method do you use to undo the damage?

Photos and videos are the best means to cherish good old days. Many Android users said they have taken a lot of photos and videos in their daily life and store them on the devices. If you accidentally deleted some photos, videos or other media files from Android phone, or formatted the media storage, don't panic, some recovery tools can help you.

Make sure your device can be switched on and recognized by your PC, and the battery should be more than 20%, thus you can perform a successful recovery.

There are many data recovery softwares like recuva or disk digger which can be used to restore files from the android phone.

I just tested disk digger, I found it keeps crashed on my Windows 8, I don't know why!

You'd better stop using your S3, otherwise, your folder will be probably lost permanently, as the space will be overwritten by new content. A tutorial I found on YouTube may help:

Is there any free app for data recovery?

Yeah, there are some free app like Recur, but if your files were stored in internal memory, then that program will not work, maybe the guide on this article would help: android photos recovery. It can recover both from SD card and internal memory.

Yeah, there are some free app like Recuva

Recuva is really a free app, but it only can get data from memory card in phone, can not scan the data in SIM card.
