Why isn't there hardware information, such as CPU Model, in About of Android device?

My previous mobile phone is HTC Touch HD, which is a windows mobile based smart phone.
In the About window of this phone, we can view some hardware information, such as CPU model, display resolution and so on.

But on my current Android-based phone, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, there is not any hardware information.
I think this might be by design for Android OS. But I just wonder why it is by design like this for Android-based phones and tablets.

Thank you in advance.

Probably as the majority of users aren't concerned with the internals of the device. There are a huge number of people who are barely aware of the version of android their device runs never mind the chipset.
