You can breath a sigh of relief, Verizon HTC One owners, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is now live and will be released to your devices OTA, the mobile carrier having finally approved the new version. Verizon comes in second place in rolling out the newest version right after Sprint who made the update available last week. On that note, HTC One owers in India, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia will see the update come OTA as well.
The update was released to US carriers in January and it’s taken just a few weeks for the new version to be certified. On top of the new HTC Sense 5.5 UI, the update brings some improvements to Blinkfeed, like a new menu for quick access to search and content and the capability of turning it on or off. Redesigned location settings were implemented, now adding a master switch and battery usage and location services info for individual apps. There’s also enhanced design for the gallery app with added functionality, as well as the capacity to manage and edit video highlights more easily using pictures, themes and music of your choice. A new Do not disturb function was added to serve the purpose of blocking mode. Switching and adding lock screen widgets is now easier and the music app was also spruced up. These are just some of the improvements brought by the update, you can check out the Verizon HTC One PDF changelog for a complete breakdown for build number 3.11.605.1.
As for those living in Asia, check to see if the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is available (build version: 4.20.707.7) for you by going into your settings, then about phone, software updates and check now. This comes as a surprise since HTC hadn’t published a schedule indicating that the update would be released to these countries, but we are happy to hear about it.
