Apple has decided to sue Samsung for copying their tablet hardware, software and user interface. Take it away, DailyTelegraph:

“Samsung’s Galaxy Tab computer tablet slavishly copies a combination of several elements of the Apple Product Configuration Trade Dress,” Apple writes in its suit. It notes, additionally, that Samsung’s tablet, like Apple’s, uses a similar rectangular design with rounded corners, similar black border and array of icons. That could indicate other tablet manufacturers, such as Motorola and HTC, can expect lawsuits in the future too.

Slavishly copying. I like that. It's completely over-dramatic.

In the past year and a half, Apple has sued HTC, Nokia, Google, and a few other companies for IP copying.

So are we really to believe that Apple invented all of the following concepts?

  • Clicking on an icon to open an app
  • Touchscreen
  • Icons
  • Alignment in a square array
  • Swipe motion to change screens

Wish I could be in the courtroom when they try to demonstrate this...
