Android Central was sent pictures of the unannounced HTC Incredible HD (codename HTC Mecha), brother to the Desire HD released in Europe recently. The device runs Android 2.2 and HTC Sense just like the Desire HD, but this phone is headed to Verizon, and appears to already be compatible and connected with Verizon's LTE/4G network.
The tipster told Android Central that during testing of the LTE network, the device was getting connection speeds up to "9Mbps downstream and 5Mbps upstream". AndroidandMe comments that those upload speeds top "anything we have tested."
No word on a specific release date or pricing, but sometime early next year would be a good bet.
AndroidandMe notes that Verizon canceled their press event at CES in early January, where they were expected to announce several LTE devices. This may turn out to be good news for consumers interested in LTE devices, as they might launch the devices sooner than previously expected.
