Android 4.3 Update and Factory Images for Nexus 10, 7, 4, Galaxy Nexus

The JWR66Y Over The Air update we reported on yesterday – the one that improves security on the Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus – has now been released OTA for the old Nexus 7 (2012) as well as the Nexus 10. The update is not the 4.3.1 build everyone is waiting for, but it does make some minor improvements.

On the brand-new side of things, the new Nexus 7 (2013) has received a new update in a different direction, JSS15Q, which resolves the spooky ghost fingers multi-touch issue and supposedly also repairs the GPS lock issues. Our new Nexus 7 hasn't received the OTA update yet, but we couldn't duplicate any of the multi-touch issues we've seen described anyway.

Factory Images have also appeared at Google for these devices and can be found here:

Nexus 4: JWR66Y (android-4.3_r1.1)

Nexus 7 (2012) Wi-Fi: JWR66Y (android-4.3_r1.1)

Nexus 7 (2012) HSPA: JWR66Y (android-4.3_r1.1)

Nexus 7 (2013): JSS15Q (android-4.3_r2.2)

Nexus 10: JWR66Y (android-4.3_r1.1)

Galaxy Nexus: JWR66Y (android-4.3_r1.1)

Have you flashed the Factory Images for any of these devices yet? Found anything interesting in the OTA updates?

  • Hi Philipp, I'm no developer but I expect it's because the other Nexus' just got the security update and the new Nexus got the security update along with the GPS fix and the multi-touch problem as well, so it's an entirely different build.

may I ask why the 2013 Nx7 4.3.1 has another build number than the others???

  • appeared this morning on my N4 here in China like a gift from the Google fairy overnight. I haven't noticed anything significantly different yet and continue to stand by the fact that the N4 is the best phone in the world!
