Features & Use
In the main menu, there are three different ways to get to your pictures: access them from your gallery, take them with your camera or load them from Facebook. Just make sure to grant Color Touch Effects permission to connect with your Facebook account. Once you’ve selected a picture, the editing process is really quick and easy – which is both a blessing and a curse.
All your photos are automatically displayed in black &/ white by default when you open them. If you’re looking for a different one, you can choose from a selection of 19 effects in total. Most of them are color effects that should be already familiar to you, like sepia and negative. Before you select a picture, you can see what the effect will look like with your photo on a small preview thumbnail. Now you can proceed to return certain objects or elements of the picture to their original state. Just click on Original and paint across the picture. If you want to add more effects, make sure to click on Effect before you start drawing.
You can adjust the brush size and opacity under the Size category. To move and zoom around the picture click on Move. It’s also possible to use multitouch while you’re drawing, but this usually leads to unintentional lines and splotches. By pressing the menu butto, you can save, delete or share your work of art. A caption can also be added either at the top or bottom of the picture. Adding margins is also possible, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Bottom Line: Color Touch Effects is a simple and practical app to add a bit of color and pep to your regular snapshots. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t really have anything else to offer. There’s no cropping and several other key features are missing. Compared to other photo editing apps, Color Touch is a bit on the boring side. But if you’re looking for a sturdy and minimal app, Color Touch Effects should be just fine.
Screen & Controls
Due to its lack of features, Color Touch Effects is very simple to use. The app’s design is rather modest, but good enough.
Speed & Stability
Color Touch Effects ran pretty smoothly throughout the test except for an instance where I couldn't switch between Caption and Paint.
Color Touch Effects is available for free from the Android Market. There are no ads or watermarks - which is definitely a big fat plus!
