CyanogenMod introduces new theme engine in CM 11 M6 build

Authored by: Kris Carlon — May 5, 2014

Listen up CyanogenMod fans, the M6 build of CM 11 is out now and it has a nifty new debutante in tow: the theme engine has been completely overhauled. Some of you will know all about this new UI already, but for those new to custom ROMs, a simple theme picker is a beautiful thing, affording a one-click solution to customizing your Android, and now it looks better than ever.

M6 has plenty more additions and improvements too, including Quiet Hours, blacklisting, Voice+, fixes for Bluetooth disconnection problems, and much more than you can read up on in detail over at CyanogenMod's blog post on the new update. The new build can be installed manually by flashing or by using the CyanogenMod Installer app.

A quick note on the labeling of M6. The M stands for monthly and each subsequent M build of CM 11 comes out in the first week of each month. M builds are replacing S and RC builds (stable and release candidate), as each M build goes through the same kinds of polishing as S builds did previously and are built off the stable branches. CyanogenMod has plans to release ''stable'' builds every two weeks in future, as opposed to the four weeks we're currently getting.

What custom ROM are you running? Do you wait for stable builds or rock nightlies?

The only trouble is CM don't support app2sd and every app I've tried does not work for me on an i9505

Just noticed the Theme Chooser hasn't been updated yet, looks like it will come in Nightlies shortly (and in M7), so for now you just have the new Engine but the old UI.
