Distracted by Moronic YouTube Comments? Transform Them Into Herp Derp!

Authored by: Steven Blum — Jul 11, 2012

On the Internet commenter scale of human intelligence, YouTubers have got to be the most idiotic. Whether these unthinking individuals are arguing over creationism, calling each other "gay," or just blabbering racist nonsence, decoding their verbal diarrhea has got to be one of the lowliest tasks on the Internet. Diving down into the withered, futile depths of the YouTube comments section requires not just a thick skin but also the ability to mentally erase everything you just read the moment you close the window.

Seriously, it's like Lord of the Flies down there.

Thankfully, an angel from heaven has struck this tower of babble with a magical curse that renders such comments unintelligable. The user @tannerstokes has created a browser extension that converts all YouTube comments into a charming language known as "Herp Derp," masking their stench and keeping our focus on the video that's streaming. If you want to actually read a comment, a simple click does the trick.

The extension is available for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera and you can download and install it in seconds. DO IT!
