I am a new learner of HTC desire. I would like to ask how can I download the apps to my phone.

Just go to the Market icon on your screen and browse through a large variety of apps. Just tap on an app to download it.

However, if I do not have both wifi and GSM connectivity. Is there any way I can download to my HTC.

The Desire, like any Android phone, downloads the apps over the internet. If you have no Wi-Fi or cellular connection, you cannot download apps, as you have no internet connection. I believe that this is the same for any app-based smartphone.
