Lately i'v witnessed an unusual thing in the android market. It seems that a good number of developers are getting massive amounts of artificial 5 star ratings on their apps. I first noticed this when I came across a row of apps that had the same app icon but yet all had the same 5 star rating and SAME exact comments. So curious enough i downloaded one of them and found that it seemed like it had been put together and submitted in a couple minutes. The picture was all distorted and blurry and definitely not worthy of 5 stars. The initial thought was that it's just a small development firm that's getting it's employees to leave positive comments and ratings on their apps to make some quick cash but ruled this out when i saw that the developer id was steven_mobi328? While beginning to feel like i was in some type of psychological thriller I googled "rate my app." thinking that's what i would type in if i were one of these developers and sure enough i found what i believe is the answer to this conundrum. Apparently theres a site called starmyapp that will leave 5 star ratings and positive comments on your app no matter how bad it is. I don't know what this could mean for the future of the Android market but it doesn't look good. I have a feeling their's going to be a lot of developers looking to strike some quick cash off of their good ratings. Have you guy's heard anything about this?
