can i update a 2.1 to a 2.2

hi can anyone tell me if I can update my scroll Android 2.1 to a 2.2. or can I get bbc iplayer or tv catch up

hi thanks for replying. when I look up apps like the bbc iplayer it will say, This app is not compatible with your device. The app needs Android 2.2 your device has Android 2.1- update 1. so do you think it can be updated, as iv been looking for the update many thanks
