Installing Gingerbread on Samsung Galaxy S

I have a friend who just installed Gingerbread on his Samsung Galaxy S and it looks amazing and runs super fast. Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to do this on my own Samsung Galaxy S?

you will need to run your Samsung Kies Software and upgrade the software on your computer first then upgrade your phone, if there is no up grades keep check it each week there will be one soon....

In INDIA ..... Initially purchased Samsung galaxy si9000 . Then the samsung upgrade to 2.2 , then in May i think upgraded to 2.3.3 gingerbread. Or GT9000 WORKING GREAT .Expecting another upgrade.

Also, be sure to head over to XDA if you have questions on this process, or if you want to try other ROMS. I think theres even an ICS ROM up and running for the Samsung Galaxy S.
