I've read this phone will have the same GPU as older Nexuses? Will this affect game quality?

Nah, should be fine. It has higher processing speeds and that's what really counts.

No sorry to say thats not correct

The Galaxy Nexus has the same GPU core as the Galaxy S and the Nexus S,
The CPU is takted at a speed of 1,2 GHz the GPU core with ~300MHz.
The resolution of the Display is 2.4 times larger so rendering of the full screen takes a longer time as on the SGS or NS.
The build in POWER VR SGX540 GPU has 4.8 GFLOPS @300MHz (Galaxy SII has ARM Mali-400MP GPU with 10.8 GFLOPS @300MHz)
Rumors coming up that there will be a newer version of the Galaxy Nexus with a better POWER VR SGX544 GPU (SGSX543 has 9.6 GFLOPS @300Mhz should be the same as the 544)
regards
