G'day, I've been attempting to root my phone using z4root, but the program kept crashing.
My phone still wasn't rooted, but it started performing very slowly, and rebooting frequently.

Now it gets stuck while rebooting, and will keep on doing this until I remove the battery and restart it, when it will jam again.:(
Will a factory reset fix this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Brody.

UPDATE: I did a factory reset, and my phone is now working, but I am still desperate to root my phone to remove heaps of bloatware. If anyone could give me advice on other ways to root, such as an update.zip I'd be eternally grateful. (my phone runs on 2.2.2 so it should be possible to root?)
thanks again, Brody

Does anyone have advice on what else I could try? Has anyone else managed to root an Ideos X1? Please respond.
Cheers.

Have you had a look on XDA Developers? I had a look around there but couldnt find a thread on that device. If it's not there, it might not be worth doing, as the support you get for it could be quite limited.

Where did you find the z4root method?

I can't remember where I found the z4root method (I've looked at that many websites.) This site, http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/huawei_x1 has a few methods (one has a broken link) and it looks like it has good support, I'm going to join them, and ask them my question.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Hey dude, this worked for me
1.Download Unlock Root on ur pc from here http://www.unlockroot.com
2.Enable USB depuration on ur phone (Settings/apps/development/usb depuration
3. plug ur phone to ur pc(it will ask u for drivers,u must install them from the Drivers folder which opens when running the phone's autorun)
4.Once u're done with this, run Unlock Root, and click Root (it even has an unroot option!),the program will recognize ur phone automatically, u must click on ur model and rooting will start, it may last a few minutes.
5.Once it's finished, another window will pop out telling u to restart ur phone, u can do it manually or clickin the option in the window.
6.Voila! ur phone is rooted!now u can look for the superuser icon in ur apps drawer and everytime u try to install an app that asks u for superuser access, a new dialog window will pop out in which u decide to give or not permission

I hope I helped u man.
Remember u must folloe EVERY step.
