Galaxy S3 contact search returns hits found in "Notes"

I need help figuring out how to limit the contact fields that are searched. I put "Jan" in the search parameters and my former mother in law's contact came up (as well as the correct one and several others). Her contact came up because "died 16 Jan 2012" was in the notes field. I asked Samsung for help, but the tech, who had this very same phone didn't even know that notes fields existed.

I don't want contacts with hits in the notes fields to be shown. Advice?
