INTRODUCTION
Since receiving the OTA Android 4.2.2 update to my (unrooted) Galaxy Nexus i515-32,  I've been curious about how the stock 4.2.2 browser compares (in features and performance) with the stock 4.1.1 browser and with the growing list of mobile browsers available for android devices. The right browser is the difference between a productive,  satisfying Internet experience and a frustrating, nonproductive experience irrespective of the merits of the device operating system.

Simply downloading several leading android mobile browsers and 'playing around' with each one through similar routines does not assure an informative, objective comparison. Therefore, I employed the highly regarded testing procedures of Vellamo v2.0.2--an industry android benchmarking app that's available on Google's Play Store--see " http://www.quicinc.com/vellamo/" and " http://www.quicinc.com/vellamo/test-descriptions/" for more information on the Vellamo suite of tests.

Single-run and multiple-run tests were performed on eight browsers: stock v4.2.2 browser,  Chrome v26.0 mobile browser,  Chrome v26.0 beta mobile browser,  Dolphin v9.3.2 mobile browser, Firefox v19.0.2 mobile browser,  Maxthon v4.0.9 web browser,  Opera v12.10 mobile browser, and Puffin v2.3.75 mobile browser.

Just prior to running each test,  battery recharging and file optimizing using Memory Booster v5.3 app were performed. Below are the test results:

5 RUN VELLAMO2 HTML5 TESTS FOR VERIZON SAMSUNG GALAXY NEXUS 4.2.2

score_________browser_____________
1329 Dolphin v9.3.2 Mobile Browser
1321 Android v4.2.2 Stock Browser
1320 Firefox v19.0.2 Mobile Browser
1320 Puffin v2.3.75 Mobile Browser
1315 Chrome v26.0 Mobile Beta
1315 Opera v12.10 Mobile Browser
1309 Maxthon v4.0.9 Web Browser
1308 Chrome v26.0 Mobile Browser

FOOTNOTE
As the stock 4.2.2 browser reportedly is build on the Google Chrome v26.0 Mobile Browser, it puzzles me that both released and beta Chrome browsers underperformed the stock 4.2.2 browser. The only advantage Chrome v26.0 (also Firefox v19.0.2 & Opera v12.10) has over the 4.2.2 stock browser, in my opinion, is browser compatibility of WebGL for viewing 3D animated graphics.
