Google has rolled out a number of services on Google Play that will help developers. In addition to the hotly-anticipated new Android game features, Google has added three new location-based APIs as well as a number of awesome services for developers.
Here are those location-based APIs:
  • Fused Location Provider: New low-power location service that uses less than 1% of battery life per hour.
  • Geofencing: Let's you define virtual areas in Google Maps and will trigger the app when the user walks into that defined area.
  • Activity Recognition: Automatically figures out when the user is walking, cycling or driving.
Google has also introduced something called "Cross-Platform Single Sign-On," which will allow users to sign on to multiple devices simultaneously, as well as a new update to Google Cloud Messaging which will allow developers to send data from apps to developers' servers.
Overall, this is a nice set of APIs and I think it will definitely help developers create very innovative new apps.
