Custom ROMS are great: with very little effort, you're able to switch out the preinstalled software on your smartphone for a new one that offers you more options and quite often a more attractive look.
You have MIUI, CyanogenMod, AOKP, ParanoidAndroid, Xenon HD and many more.....

Do you have one that you use or a favorite to suggest to others?

I'm using Chameleon/4.2.2 on my KFire, and ROOTED 'stock' 4.3 on my new Nexus 7.

I know the S4 Pro in the 2nd gen Nexus 7 is a capable chipset, but I know it can be overclocked at 1.9GHz with ease, but unfortunately my knowledge of custom ROMS and "Rooting" is pitiful to say the least. But new Nexus is very customizable, so nows the time to learn. Also the LG msm769 L9 actually NEEDS to be rooted to save any data on the external SD card. Anyone know a good website with a relatively inexpensive "rootkit" for this absurd problem. Thanks :-)

Hi @Conde, to check the supported devices for CyanogenMod's CM 10.2 ROM just head to their website, where you'll be able to find out if your phone is supported, any questions others may have had and feedback on the ROM. Happy trails!

I have installed CM 10.2 Final on my HTC One and I am so happy with my choice. I previously had AOKP, which I liked very much, especially with the excellent Vivid theme. I do prefer the simplicity of CM over AOKP. I'll be trying out other ROMs, and, of course, giving AOKP a few more shots, no doubt.
