How do I stop certain apps from being installed eg. Kik, snapchat without having to block them just based on their rating as this will block other apps as well that have the same rating

Blocking Snapchat ???? didn't get that I don't think SnapChat or KiK will install on your device until or unless you have clicked over the install button! I don't think that there is any ....... which can block the application based on their reviews.

Because they're free you can't block them from being installed as you can only password protect purchases from the PlayStore. Your best option is to install the apps then use an app like AppLock to prevent them being used.

Can't you just tell her NOT to install it, or don't allow her on the tablet if she ignores your wishes?

Change your password and create her a user account with limited use then she can not install the app again

This is the best answer. Monitor your child's use of the device!

As great as this suggestion is, you can only have one google account per device, so if she does create another google account with limited access, then the tablet basically becomes her daughter's tablet.

Not true. I have all of my kids accounts logged into my phone so I can monitor their emails and such. Mine is the original so by default it uses my account but I can switch to theirs in a few clicks. You just add accounts in your device settings under google.

Don't try to be a good dad and tell your daughter not to use the App. At least on your Tablet as you are not happy with her using the app. Even if she gets angry, tell her to deal with your decision. Apps like Kik are not good for young kids especially the daughter. It is a social messaging app but people use it to share explicit images and also as the portal for dating.

If you have a computer, check if she has installed the app on her computer. as many websites provide the tutorial to install such apps on the computer even if the user does not have access to the smartphone or tablet.
