Make messenger respect phone notification settings

I have the same issue with WhatsApp, and it's annoying as anything.

Messenger won't respect my S4's notification profile: if in ringing mode and I switch to vibrate fbm won't vibrate on getting a message; if I turn on vibrate in fbm and then turn my phone's profile to silent or ring (from vibrate) it still vibrates, ignoring what state the phone is in.

So every time I change from vibrate to silent to ring I'm expected to enter each app separately and change the notification setting buried in its menus? So stupid, and I don't recall having to do this until recently. Facebook messenger should inherit the sound profile from the phone's settings as most other apps do.

Is it possible to get it to respect the phone's notification profile?
