If you have deleted some of your WhatsApp messages, you may be able to get them back. Here's how:

How to get deleted WhatsApp messages back

WhatsApp automatically backs up conversations to your internal memory or SD card every day. To restore them you must first uninstall then reinstall WhatsApp.

During the installation you will be asked if you wish to restore your message history. Choose "restore" and your missing conversations should reappear. If they don't, it may be for one of these reasons:

  • Your SD card and/or chat history is corrupted.
  • Your backup is too old. WhatsApp cannot restore backups that are too old.
  • You have a different phone number than when you backed up your chats.

Did this work for you?

what you said really works, but I think there are actually two situations, within 7 days or beyond seven days.
Option 1. Restore WhatsAPP messages from backup (within seven days)
WhatsApp automatically makes backups every day at 3 AM and stores them in the WhatsApp folder of your Android phone, we can restore them by uninstalling and reinstalling WhatsAPP.
1. Go to Settings > Application > WhatsApp and click “Uninstall” to uninstall WhatsApp.
2. Reinstall WhatsApp and verify your phone number, you will be prompted to restore your message history.
3. Simply tap on “Restore” and your missing WhatsApp chat history and messages less than 7 days is restored.
Option 2. Restore WhatsApp chat history from backup (beyond seven days)
Whatsapp recommend manual restoration. Here is a warning for you before you start restoring. That is, any new messages sent/received after a backup, and deleted before the next backup, cannot be restored.
1. Navigate to the WhatsApp Database folder and decide which backup file you want to restore.
2. Rename that file from “msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt7” to “msgstore.db.crypt7”.
3. Uninstall and re-install WhatsApp, choose “Restore” when prompted, you will be able to see your restored messages.
