I used towelroot a few months ago. That was cool. Now that Lollipop has been released, I tried to unroot it so I could upgrade. I unrooted it with SU. Then I figured I could download lollipop. No dice. It gets to the very end and tells me that the upgrade has been unsuccessful. I used multiple root check apps and they all tell me that mine isn't rooted. I did a factory reset. I still can't upgrade and I'm frustrated.

I suppose the threshold question is, is there any advantage to having lollipop over having a rooted kitkat?

If not, please tell me what's the easiest way to root now. Grumble.

Anyone?

Thanks

You should root again before you unroot run install triangle away from Chainfire to reset your counter and for your phone to read official for the binary status. Now unroot, reboot, once the phone boots back up immediately press the power off button & factory reset. Now let it reboot and get your Android update.

You can unroot your Android phone directly from SuperSU app.
