Recently I started getting these advertisements randomly...but at least once a day. Can anyone tell me the cause and what I can do to make it stop. Thanks

Well, I am pretty much sure you must have accidentally installed an app which is pushing ads over your device, the best option is to factory reset your device but what first what you can try doing is installing app like Ad-Network Scanner & Detector and scan your device for the app pushing ads over your device, once you find the app uninstall it !!! 
See if that works out for you !!!
