I have never seen such kind of procedure of installing paid apps as free.

A phone is not like a Playstation that once rooted or jailbreak you can easily install paid apps/games just by downloading it. I think all paid apps on the phone will always be paid as long as the one who made it didn't change to a free app cause so far I have never seen hacking a paid app and making it free on some devices yet.
