Question about serial baud speed

Hello,

I have an Arduino with a Bluetooth Serial module HC-05. I can connect to it from my smartphone with apps such as Blueterm.

I don't have any problems, I am just wondering one thing:

How does Android automatically detect the baud speed ? I mean, I have downloaded many apps similar to Blueterm, and they don't have a configuration panel to setup bauds speed, or parity bit, or other serial settings... They seem to automatically detect the settings somehow. Any idea how ?
